Well, well, well!  How about this summer we’re having!?

I was in the supermarket the other day – getting cool by the yoghurt fridge – when I overheard someone comment that she “likes it hot but not THIS hot, not ALL of the time.”  Aren’t people funny? We’re never happy are we?

It’s understandable that not all of us like it this warm and at times the gorgeous weather can be a bit overwhelming when it’s hot day after day.   Suggestions for keeping cool are all over the media at the moment, I read one the other day that said to eat spicy food! But then again it also said not to drink beer so I’m not sure how accurate that was, and even if it’s 100% true I’m not paying any attention to the bit about not drinking beer.

In all seriousness though the best thing to do during a warm spell like this is to stay out of the midday sun, drink lots of water, use an excellent sunscreen and wear as few clothes as you can get away with; this includes your feet!  In my opinion there isn’t much better than being able to kick off my shoes and be barefoot ALL the time!  And don’t even get me started on the joy of dipping hot feet into wonderful chilly water for an instant cool down.

Some people are quite self-conscious of their feet, particularly if they have missing or damaged toenails, and at this time of year they are faced with two choices; have hot sticky feet all day or, despite their embarrassment, be brave and wear open shoes.

We are delighted to announce that now there is another option.

LCN Nail Technique!

Amongst her many qualifications – take a look at our other blog posts to see the full extent of her foot care service – Julie Harwood is a member of The College of Footcare Practitioners and a approved provider of LCN Nail Technique. Wilde-Pedique is a treatment that offers a solution to missing toenails, damaged nails, or toenails that suffer from a fungal infection. It is a safe and effective way to remodel or even reconstruct your toenails. The results are outstanding and can take unsightly nails back to a pristine and realistic look. Giving you the confidence to go barefoot.

Julie Harwood is delighted to be able to offer this service to her clients. Wilde-Pedique works as a prosthetic nail, it is a gel resin that bonds to your existing nail surface and gives a natural finish, covering broken and damaged toenails. It can be used in conjunction with anti-fungal nail treatments and it could help with the prevention of spreading infection. This treatment is not a cure, but it will provide protection and ease for unsightly nails and prevent them from snagging and causing further damage and discomfort. It is also very effective at covering nails that are ridged and scaly.

This treatment will work on any existing nail bed and may help with regrowth and the prevention of ingrowing toenails. Once applied the gel is hardened under a UV light and will grow and cut like a normal nail, due to regrowth it will need filling every 4 to 6 weeks. An initial consultation will help Julie to provide you with the ideal solution to your foot care issues, she will be able to advise you of the best treatments available to you.
